William Shatner

"I'm A Very Happy Man" Says William "The Shat" Shatner

"I'm A Very Happy Man" Says William "The Shat" Shatner

I've said it before and will again; The Shat is a force of nature. Not only is he increasing his convention schedule this year, but he's also steering his one-man-show around this beautiful country of ours. Starting on Broadway. . LA Weekly recently sat down with Sir Billiam (thought we forgot about it, huh?) and got the chance to experience The Shat's essence while he rehearsed for the launch of Shatner's World: We Just Live in It. Where Bill revealed that he's essentially happy with the way his life has turned out.

"I'm a happy man. I'm a somewhat anxiety-ridden man right now, with opening night and all that. But in its right perspective, there should be a sense of joy about it. I'm going to open on Broadway in a one-man show. It's extraordinary. What a gift — to me!"

Yeah, I would be happy too. I mean think about, all of his conquests throughout the galaxy (great and small) and having an alien as the best man for your wedding. What's not to be happy about?

William Shatner Attending New Orleans Comic Con In January 2012

We know The Shat is all the rage and that all you want out of life is to feast your peepers on him, live and in person. Ok, so maybe that was our goal, not yours, but I’m gonna go out on a limb here and assume since you’re reading a website about Star Trek that you kinda, maybe, sort of dig William Shatner. Well, that being the case, you’ll be thrilled to know that he is scheduled to be a featured guest at Wizard World’s New Orleans Comic Con January 28-29, 2012.

William Shatner Loves Fried Turkey... And Fire Safety

William Shatner Loves Fried Turkey... And Fire Safety

In a bid to save your arm hair William Shatner & State Farm Insurance have joined forces to spread the word about the dangers of deep frying a turkey this holiday season. Ya' know, everyone including The Shat loves the moist deliciousness that comes from taking a 20lb frozen turkey and dumping it in boiling oil, but there's a hidden danger that comes with the golden brown poultry goodness. “I love to fry turkey and have been doing it for years but I am not immune to frying accidents,” says Shatner. “In fact, my family now gathers together to watch my mishaps. Several years ago I was even burned on my arms after accidently dropping the turkey in the hot oil. People need to remember that hot oil and turkey can be a dangerous combination.”

William Shatner's Documentary "The Captains" Available For Streaming On Netflix; With Hidden Awesomeness

William Shatner's Documentary "The Captains" Available For Streaming On Netflix

So I was cruising Netflix tonight, searching for Chuck Norris's The Delta Force (no lie!) and I stumbled upon William Shatner's documentary The Captains on Watch Instantly. You know the one; it features interviews with all six Star Trek captains... Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew, Scott Bakula, and Chris Pine. Oh, and The Shat, of course. I've been meaning to sit down and watch The Captains since release back in July, but I just simply haven't made the time. Now that I have, here are a few takeaways; First, Patrick Stewart seems to be one of the most thoughtful and eloquent actors in the history of the stage, Kate Mulgrew is tough-as-nails and can hold her own with anyone, Avery Brooks is down right crazy & amazing all at the same time, Scott Bakula is extremely down-to-earth, and Chris Pine IS William Shatner 30 years younger. And on top of that, Patrick Stewart's chair is gigantically disproportionate to Shatner's.

William Shatner's latest "Singing" Adventure "Seeking Major Tom" Available Now

So, how do we describe William Shatner's singing career? Well, it's more of a speaking career, right? Starting with his famous "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" released in 1968 on the album "The Transformed Man". The Shat interspersed Shakespeare throughout the album with other hits like "Mr. Tambourine Man" & "It was a very good year". Next, we move on to his live double album released in 1977 that features Sir Billiam (still trying) reciting scenes from "Cyrano de Bergerac" & "War of the Worlds". Unfortunately though, there were no top forty hits to be found on that vinyl. Then, out of the blue 1978 rolls along and we see The Shat performing his famous (or infamous) rendition of Elton John's "Rocket man" on the The Science Fiction Film Awards, which he hosted, by the way. Over the years Bill has "sang" many-a-song with his tongue firmly placed in his cheek and the most recent release is no different.
